Total Communication

Total communication approach is a holistic communication method that let’s every person find their own unique way of connecting and expressing themselves in the world.

This communication method goes beyond speech as a medium of expression to include gestures, sign language, AAC and other visual communication systems.

Who Do We Teach?

This program is for parents, educators and caregivers  to work with children and adults in communication forms other than speech. 

This program is designed to take our emphasis away from speech as the only mode of communication and instead focus on multiple modes and types of communication. Each of our modules are designed for easy use of information in practical situations.  

Individualized Approach

Matches  Individuals skills and  functional communication systems with strategies, tenets in helping each Individual communicate better. 

Special Needs Support

The training can be  tailore made for specialized modules and individualized sessions for families of children with special needs

AAC Training

Train you to use Alternative and Augementative communication devices in both digital and non digital form.

Course Content

Why total communication ?

Total Communication can be used by anyone who faces difficulties in communicating verbally. The approach is often used to support people with:

  • Speech and Language Difficulties 
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Down Syndrome
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Learning disabilities
  • Multi sensory impairment
Alternative and Augmentative Communication

Training in aided and non aided systems of AAC. Using Jellow or Avaz apps.

Non Verbal Communication

Non-verbal communication is any form of communication which does not involve the method of spoken communication skills. This includes sign language, facial expressions, gestures using hands or other body parts, use of props or objects, photos, communication books, signs, textures, smells, temperature, and symbols.

Community Skills

Total communication also involves people surrounding the individual with communication difficulties. This includes family, friends, peers, teachers, caregivers and anyone else who interacts with the person.

Chitra Paul

Chitra Paul is a parent, special educator and uses AAC extensively in communication with her son. She advocates and teaches total communication to others.

How Can I Join ?

The program is open to parents, caregivers, educators and organizations. We customize the size of our batches based on customer requirements.

Program Duation – 3 days  (2 hours each)

Class Mode : Online on Zoom

Contribution to AIF : Rs 2000/-
